Assistant Chef 

Winchester College seeks to appoint an Assistant Chef to work in a boarding house during term time, preparing meals from fresh ingredients for about 60-65 covers. The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of nutrition and kitchen hygiene. Qualified/experienced to at least NVQ2 (or equivalent), he/she should have experience in menu and nutritional planning and, importantly, be prepared to work as part of a team. This post is for 30 hours/week which will be worked over a 5 day rota over 7 days.

Administrator (HR Department)

An opportunity exists for an Administrator to join the HR team at Winchester College. This role entails being the first point of call for over 500 members of staff on all HR-related queries, and ensuring that the HR database is up to date and accurate, and complies with legislation.

Applicants should have good interpersonal skills, and be well organised and able to communicate effectively at all levels.  The successful applicant will have excellent administrative skills and will need to understand and manipulate a database, helping to provide reports in a timely fashion. Training on the College database system will be provided.

Candidates with a database background and excellent Excel skills are encouraged to apply. 
Hours will be 0830 to 1700 hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working.

Carpenter

The Works Department has a full time vacancy for a qualified carpenter. The job involves both maintenance and project work. Graduate Musician in Residence - Junior Fellow

Winchester College Music School offers excellent facilities for music-making, with a large rehearsal and concert hall, fifty teaching and practice rooms, a fully-equipped music technology classroom, recording studio, editing suite, percussion studio and rock room. New Hall provides an outstanding performance space, with seating for 400. The department has six full-time staff and nearly sixty visiting music teachers who support a thriving and dynamic Music School.

The school seeks to appoint a Graduate Musician in Residence (Junior Fellow), to act as Concerts Manager and Music Librarian, and to support a wide variety of activities across the Department. The position will initially be for one year with the possibility of an extension. The exact role will be adapted to suit the abilities of the successful applicant, but a willingness to be involved in every aspect of performance is essential. The appointment will commence on 1 September 2017.

Kitchen Assistant

Winchester College is looking for a reliable person to work in a boarding house during term time only, helping in the preparation of ingredients and supporting the kitchen team in all cleaning duties. This role is term-time only, working 12.5 hours per week, Friday 5pm - 7pm, Saturday 9.30am - 2.00pm and 5.00pm - 7.00pm and Sunday 10.00am - 2.00pm.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to progress to learn basic Level 2 preparation, and cookery, leading to a recognised qualification.

Catering Assistant/Waiting Staff (College Hall Steward)

A responsible and smart person is required to join the team that is responsible for looking after the day-to-day needs of the Master-in-College, the Scholars and their guests, and which also assists in the Warden's Lodgings, the Headmaster's House and any other venue in which a catered service is to be provided. Driving licence preferred, but not essential.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have had experience in the catering/hospitality industry, but this is not essential, as training can be provided.

Owing to the nature of the historical buildings throughout the College, the postholder will be expected to be able to meet the reasonable physical demands of the post.

Nominal working hours are 40 hours per week throughout the year. Weekend and evening work will routinely be expected.

CCF School Staff Instructor

Winchester College seeks to appoint a School Staff Instructor (SSI) to the College Combined Cadet Force. The successful candidate will be a Warrant Officer Class I or II rank (either a Company Sergeant Major or a Regimental Sergeant Major); however, strong applicants of other ranks may be considered. This role requires someone with experience and sufficient vigour to work with the boys in the field, in the mountains and on the ranges.

This is a term time only position with the post-holder will work Monday to Friday 0800-1600 hours with half an hour for lunch between 1330-1400 hours, term time only; however, during the off duty hours, the post-holder will be a designated first responder for the Armoury Rifle Store alarm systems. A degree of flexibility will be required to ensure a smooth workflow, and hours can be managed in liaison with the Contingent Commander. Attendance at all camps and exercises will also be required.

Combined Cadet Force Storeman

Winchester College requires a CCF Storeman to provide administrative support to the school's Staff Instructor. This includes the issue and recovery of all military and adventure training kit, and assuming the role of Ammunition Storeman. The storeman must also be prepared to take on a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) commission.
Training will be given if required.

The CCF is supported by a full-time Staff Instructor and a Secretary. The post-holder will work closely with these individuals, liaising with other departments within the College as necessary, to facilitate the efficient and smooth running of the CCF.

This post is for 22 hours per week during term time only to be completed as agreed with the CCF Contingent Commander. The Storeman will be required to attend camps in the capacity as Storeman.

Winchester College has vacancies for reliable people to work as Domestics (weekend and evenings) in several Boarding Houses, carrying out general cleaning duties and assisting in the Dining Room serving meals. The ideal candidates must be self-motivated and able to work both on their own and as part of a team, and should display a high level of integrity and attention to detail. These roles are term-time only, working various shifts, from weekends 9.00am to 2.00pm to evenings (Monday to Sunday) 5.00pm to 7.00pm.
