Head Chef

We have a vacancy for a Head Chef in one of our boarding houses. The successful applicant, who will be responsible for preparing meals from fresh ingredients for about 60 covers, will be qualified to NVQ3 (or equivalent) and should have experience in menu-planning, stock-control and budgeting.

Chef

We are looking to recruit a Chef to work in a boarding house during term time, preparing meals from fresh ingredients for about 60-65 covers. The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of nutrition and kitchen hygiene.

This term-time only position is for 25 hours/week which will be worked over a 5 day rota over 7 days.

Kitchen and Food Delivery Assistant

This role is likely to suit applicants with previous experience of working in a food production environment who would also enjoy wider contact with the school’s many different departments.

Catering Assistant (full-time)

We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the team at the College.  Ideally, the successful applicant will have had experience in the catering/hospitality industry, but this is not essential, as training can be provided.   This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Teatime Assistants

The Teatime Assistant position is a permanent, term-time only position, working  5.00pm till 7.00pm shifts carrying out general kitchen duties.

We currently have vacancies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Domestic

Domestics should be able to work as part of a small team with responsibility for the cleanliness of allocated areas of a boarding house. No experience of cleaning is required as training will be provided. This is a term-time only position, working Monday to Saturday, 9.00am - 2.00pm.

Assistant Housekeeper

 The post is likely to suit applicants with previous housekeeping experience, whether gained in a large private house, school or prestige hotel.

Weekend Domestics

Domestics should be able to work as part of a small team with responsibility for the cleanliness of allocated areas of the school. No experience of cleaning is required as training will be provided.

We currently have vacancies on Saturday and Sundays, 9.00am - 2.00pm and Saturdays 8.00am - 4.00pm.

LAMDA Teacher

 Winchester College wishes to appoint a self-employed Drama teacher to take LAMDA classes for approximately five hours a week. Pupils from Years 9 to 13 are entered for examinations in the Communication and Performance Syllabus in either solos or duos. Classes are taken in school during afternoons and early evenings, by private arrangement. 

 

Communications Assistant

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, highly-organised individual with excellent communication skills to join our busy and thriving Communications Department on a short-term contract.

This position is for between 15 and 20 hours per week, term-time only, from January to April 2020.

Relief Matron

The Relief Matron covers for the Housekeeper Matron to allow her to have time off during the week and is required to sleep overnight in the Boarding House once per week, during term-time only.

Handyperson

Winchester College has eleven boarding houses which all house around 65-70 boys and supporting staff. The Handyperson will work in one of these boarding houses and will complete everyday maintenance tasks and support the cleaning team in their duties in the house.

Cleaner & Events Set-up Assistant

The Central Cleaning team is responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness of all school buildings and also for the setting up of rooms for both school events and events booked by our commercial lets department.

Carpenter

We are looking for two Carpenters to carry out all aspects of carpentry work in the maintenance, improvement and alteration of the College’s varied building stock.

Closing date: Thursday 31st October 2019

Electrician

To be part of a small team of electricians in our busy Works Department carrying out all aspects of electrical work in the maintenance, improvement and alteration of the College’s varied building stock.

Closing date: Wednesday 13th November 2019

Roofer

Required to carry out most aspects of roof maintenance including, tiling, slating and lead work where possible.

Apprentice Painter & Decorator

The Works Department at Winchester College has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Painter and Decorator.   The successful applicant must be an enthusiastic and hardworking individual, who is prepared to make the very best of this opportunity and work towards a Diploma in Painting & Decorating taught through a combination of on- and off-the-job training on day release over a duration of 24 months.
