Winchester Maths Summer School Online

Following the success of last year’s virtual course, the Winchester Maths Summer School (WMSS) will again take place online this year. The course is aimed at year 12 students from state schools hoping to study mathematics at university, and is focused on the pervasive theme of ‘Proof in Mathematics’.

Sessions are lead by teachers from Winchester College, supported by undergraduates from leading universities including many WMSS alumni. Last year’s students enjoyed the course immensely, and all of them said they would recommend it to a friend.

“Being in an environment with others who appreciate maths in the same way that I do was very encouraging and inspiring.”

Whilst it is a shame not to be returning to a physical camp this year, the online setting allows for greater flexibility. Rather than packing all the maths into five intense days, there will be three evening sessions a week for a month. This will give students more time to digest the material, and allow them to fit summer school sessions in around their other commitments.

If you have any questions, please contact the maths events team.
